I am medically retired for much of the time, so I cannot work full-time. To fit-in with my intermittent good-health, I create networked systems that require little or no maintenance, i.e. they do not rely upon me to operate correctly.
I am prepared to consider working for charities on a voluntary basis, and will consider doing free work on a case-by-case basis.
Hardware always has to be paid for at cost when supplied by me, but I specialise in redeployment of second-hand equipment into small networks (typically less than 100 users), so that hardware expense is a fairly minimal consideration most of the time. This cuts down on hi-tech waste and is environmentally conscientious. This is typically achieved by other companies out-growing their hardware, or previously Microsoft-based systems becoming too sluggish for that hardware.
All the servers I set-up are based upon Linux or some similar variant. This means that the servers are license free and there are no ongoing licensing costs and indeed there's no having to fork-out for new licenses when an upgrade is applied. Under such systems there is a wealth of subsystems available to deploy or not as required, these include file & print services, e-mail services, database services, web services, and so-on. A recent development is VOIP support featuring the famous asterisk software PABX system, offering complete PABX capability as well as a potential gateway to Internet VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol).
I take a certain amount of pride in producing systems that are so reliable as to be safely left for months (and maybe years) without any intervention required, yet are fault tolerant and can be repaired with a minimum of downtime.
I can provide remote administration and remote update where required.
Please note: I do not routinely provide desktop PC support.
